About the Photographer
By day, Doug is a practicing dentist; behind the camera, he’s a photographer drawn to remote and quiet places — the icebergs of Greenland, the canyons of the American Southwest, the volcanic coastline of Iceland, and the peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Photography gives him a chance to stretch a different set of artistic muscles, favoring stillness, reflection, and long light.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic — a process that gives the image a depth no standard print can match. Colors hold their richness and shadows their detail, while the metallic base and acrylic layer combine to lend the photograph a subtle, three-dimensional quality, as if the light and texture were lifting slightly off the surface. The result is archival and UV-resistant, built to hold its color for generations.
Every print is produced in limited runs and signed and numbered.
